NBA 2K27 MyNBA Features: New Legacy Mode, GM Trust, Team Dynamics & More

NBA 2K27 puts the focus back on the fundamentals of MyNBA while giving you more control over the direction of your franchise. From realistic CBA negotiations and a new GM Trust system to expanded customization and the massive new MyNBA Legacy experience, every front-office decision can shape your league.

The goal this year was to deliver a deeper franchise experience while giving players the freedom to build the NBA they want. Whether you’re managing today’s league or creating a 100-year basketball universe, MyNBA gives you the tools to make your vision a reality.

FREE AGENCY REVAMP & IMPROVED CONTRACTS

Free agency receives a major overhaul in NBA 2K27, bringing more of the uncertainty and strategy of the real NBA offseason into MyNBA.

The Moratorium Period & Pitching Max Players

Before free agency officially begins, you’ll have an opportunity to meet with the league’s biggest max-level free agents and make early pitches. These conversations allow you to establish commitments before the official signing window opens.

When multiple teams present max contracts, elite free agents will evaluate more than simply the amount of money being offered. You’ll need to use contract perks and make binding promises to give your franchise an advantage during negotiations:

  • Roster Demands: Max players can request general influence over roster decisions, ask you to sign or keep a close friend or Dynamic Duo teammate, or require you to move or avoid signing a specific rival.
  • Lifelong Loyalty Promises: While top stars typically receive max contracts in real life, 2K27 expands the ways you can persuade them to choose your team beyond simply offering the most money.
  • Performance Bonuses & Incentives: Contracts can include bonuses tied to individual or team accomplishments, including All-NBA selections, Defensive Player of the Year awards, or reaching the Conference Finals. Each incentive is classified as Guaranteed, Likely, or Unlikely and affects your available cap space according to CBA rules.

A new menu during the free agency moratorium provides a scrollable depth chart of the best available players at every position. This makes it easier to spot positional shortages, follow which stars are leaving the board, and determine when your front office needs to act.

Daily recap screens also keep you updated throughout free agency. These summaries highlight major signings, league power rankings, the remaining high-value free agents, and a final offseason recap identifying the biggest winners and losers.

TEAM DYNAMICS & GM TRUST

Talent alone doesn’t guarantee a championship. In NBA 2K27, player relationships, personalities, chemistry, and your credibility as a general manager all play a larger role in building a successful franchise.

Morale, Personality Clashes, & Dynamic Duos

The revamped morale system tracks relationships between players, including friendships, rivalries, and personality traits. These relationships can form naturally through shared experiences, such as playing together internationally, attending the same high school or college, or coming from the same hometown region.

Rivalries can develop through repeated competition as well. If a player is repeatedly eliminated from the playoffs by the same opponent, that history can create a genuine grudge that adds intensity to future meetings, particularly during important elimination games.

Player personalities can also influence your locker room. Pairing two demanding Alpha Dogs or putting a Keep It Real player alongside a “Pat My Back” teammate can create significant chemistry problems. Personality mismatches cause chemistry to develop more slowly and make it disappear faster when the team starts losing.

Positive relationships can have major benefits. When two star players reach a Friendship rating of 50 or higher, they become a Dynamic Duo and receive an additional OVR boost. Playing alongside your Duo partner also provides both players with dynamic attribute boosts during games. If three elite stars develop sufficiently strong friendships, they can form a Big 3 that unlocks the maximum team-wide boosts while they remain together.

Earning & Losing GM Trust

Your reputation as a general manager is represented by a new GM Trust rating, which begins at 50. This rating determines how credible your promises are during free agency and has a direct effect on player morale within your organization.

Governor Directives apply across all MyNBA modes. Completing MyGM objectives, securing player extensions, and re-signing your own free agents can raise your Trust rating. Breaking promises or trading players who are under multi-year contracts can lower it.

A severely damaged Trust rating can make negotiations considerably more difficult. Top free agents may stop believing your promises, forcing you to offer additional money to convince them to sign.

BACK TO BASICS

One of the focuses was on strengthening the fundamental franchise-management tools while adding administrative and roster features. Here are 21 examples of the changes included in 2K27:

  1. Expand trade negotiations to as many as four teams at once, while increasing the asset limit from six to nine assets per team.
  2. Negotiate buyouts with veteran players on expiring contracts and pursue late-season additions through the dedicated Buyout Market.
  3. Implement the CBA’s Second Apron, including its trade restrictions and tax penalties for teams spending at the highest levels.
  4. Add 75 more historic courts to MyNBA Eras.
  5. Bring back Eurostash contracts, which have been absent since NBA 2K24, with significant improvements to create a more authentic and enjoyable system.
  6. Update MyNBA’s All-Star Weekend to match the NBA’s current format.
  7. Add the new 3-2-1 lottery system along with its smaller associated details. The system can also be enabled as a rule change or used as a historic change when starting before the Modern Era.
  8. Add additional playoff home/away formats for five- and seven-game series. Five-game series now support straight alternating home and away as well as 2-2-1, while seven-game series support alternating, 2-2-1-1-1, and 2-3-2 formats.
  9. Add player birthplaces and high schools to player information, helping establish starting relationships based on shared regions, schools, or colleges.
  10. Add cash considerations to trades, including the ability to place cash into the trade menu and have teams properly evaluate its value.
  11. Add an option to disable historic changes. When disabled, expansion teams, rule changes, rebrands, and similar developments won’t be introduced. Re-enabling the option allows new historic changes to begin occurring from that point forward.
  12. Make quarter-ending heaves count toward team attempts while preventing missed heaves from counting as individual shot attempts.
  13. Add a rule change governing what happens when a team calls a timeout despite having none remaining, including possession and technical-foul outcomes.
  14. Improve matchup comparisons at neutral locations, including situations such as the final NBA Cup (In-Season Tournament) game.
  15. Add the NBA Cup to player histories so the achievement can be tracked for both players and staff.
  16. Add support for variant NBA Cup cities, allowing the current Indianapolis location, previous Las Vegas location, and automatic historic venue changes to be represented.
  17. Add a rule change for Clutch Player of the Year.
  18. Add limited 10-day contracts to both the NBA and WNBA.
  19. Improve the effects of the first apron to better reflect the CBA.
  20. Correct an error in tiebreaker rules, which is particularly important for keeping Play-In and playoff tiebreakers aligned with the real NBA and preventing Start Today conflicts.
  21. Improve defensive calculations that affect shot probabilities by introducing a cap on how much defense can interfere. This change does not affect shooting odds when playing games directly with the sticks.

MORE RULE CHANGES & DRAFT CLASS PLAYLISTS

League customization becomes even more flexible in NBA 2K27 thanks to an expanded Rule Change system.

Instead of limiting you to five rule proposals per offseason, MyNBA now allows you to review and vote on an unlimited number of proposals organized into categories. The redesigned interface also provides historical context, detailed explanations, and customizable sliders for individual rule changes.

The expanded 100-year franchise window also introduces Historic Draft Playlists. You can arrange historical draft classes in sequence so they automatically populate your league over multiple decades, or randomize the player pool to create completely different versions of history.

There are three ways to customize these draft playlists:

  • Loop: Once the playlist reaches its end, it begins again from the start.
  • Shuffle: Players are randomly selected from the overall pool to create randomized draft classes without duplicate players.
  • Reverse: Historical draft classes are used in reverse chronological order.

MyNBA also adds more retro arena floors and classic uniforms to strengthen the historical presentation. Contract-length rules have also been updated for each era so they better reflect the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that applied during that specific period.

MyNBA LEGACY: BUILD A 100-YEAR DYNASTY

The biggest new addition to NBA 2K27 is MyNBA Legacy, a single-player, player-locked experience that combines front-office management with a player-focused progression system. It allows you to build a basketball legacy across an entire century while also providing a more casual sandbox experience.

When starting a MyNBA Legacy save in the Modern Era, you can choose any player to become your Legend. You can keep that player’s current attributes and Badges or reset them to their rookie form, potentially allowing you to earn additional XP by completing statistical milestones.

From there, you control both sides of the experience: managing the team as general manager while also playing as your locked Legend on the court. Because MyNBA Legacy is a single-player sandbox, there are no artificial progression restrictions, allowing you to develop your player into an elite statistical force.

Attribute Progression, Training Camps, & Badges

Performance and strategic decision-making drive progression in MyNBA Legacy. Rather than relying on traditional rating increases, your Legend earns XP by reaching per-game statistical targets, winning awards such as MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year, making deep playoff runs, and chasing career statistical records.

Milestones can be completed by playing games, simulating them, or combining both approaches.

As XP accumulates, your Legend advances through different tiers. Each tier provides two major progression benefits: Badge Tiers and Performance Points.

  • Badge Tiers: Increasing your tier unlocks stronger Badge tiers. Tier 14 is the Legend tier and provides 1 Legend, 5 Hall of Fame, 12 Gold, 8 Silver, and 8 Bronze Badges. Tier 15, G.O.A.T., instead provides 3 Legend, 7 Hall of Fame, 10 Gold, 10 Silver, and 10 Bronze Badges. Badges can be freely changed, swapped, and upgraded.
  • Performance Points: XP converts into Performance Points at a 1:1 ratio. These points can be spent on Training Camps that permanently improve specific attribute groups such as Outside Shooting, Playmaking, or Perimeter Defense. You can also purchase Bonus Abilities that improve your Legend and contribute to their legacy.

The ultimate target is Tier 30, the Eternal G.O.A.T. tier, where every Badge becomes a Legend Badge. Your Legend can also purchase Bonus Abilities that can be passed down through the family tree, allowing future generations to begin with stronger advantages based on the work of previous players.

Bonus Abilities

Performance Points can also be spent on standalone Bonus Abilities. These upgrades can provide major advantages, including protection from injuries, unlimited stamina, and significantly more favorable contracts.

Legacy Bonuses

  • Family Skills: Select any Badge, allowing all future children of your current Legend to inherit that Badge and its level.
  • Private Lessons: All future children of your current Legend begin with an additional Training Camp.
  • Legacy: Select another non-legacy Bonus Ability you already own, allowing all future children to inherit that ability as well.

Player Health

  • The Long Haul: Your Legend can no longer suffer a career-ending injury.
  • Protected: An upgraded version of The Long Haul that prevents major injuries capable of ending the player’s season.
  • Immune: An upgraded version of Protected that prevents all injuries.
  • Hyperbaric Therapy: Players normally experience physical-attribute regression after reaching a certain age. Training Camps can combat that regression in MyNBA Legacy, while Hyperbaric Therapy reduces the number of camps required by one each time it is acquired.
  • Limitless Stamina: Your Legend’s maximum energy does not decrease during games, allowing them to play extended minutes without losing stamina.

Player Improvement

  • Training Camp: The primary method of improving attributes in MyNBA Legacy.
  • Pave the Way: Raises the potential of all future children by 5. Each new generation can purchase the ability again, allowing future potential to stack. Higher potential also lowers the Performance Point cost of Training Camps.
  • Legendary Skills: Immediately awards a new Legend-tier Badge.
  • Offering: Permanently removes a selected Badge for your Legend and their children in exchange for permanently increasing XP earned from most sources.
  • Hardware Collector: Increases XP earned from personal accomplishments such as winning MVP.

Miscellaneous

  • On-Court Coach: Similar to the popular MyCAREER Badge, AI teammates immediately follow your instructions when you call for the ball or tell them to shoot.
  • Sim Baller: Increases XP earned by 20%. The bonus temporarily decreases during a season for every game played on the sticks and resets to 20% the following season.
  • Team-Friendly Deal: Your contract counts for only 85% of its market value against the salary cap.
  • Anything for a Ring: Your contract is permanently set to the league minimum, maximizing the amount of cap space available for building a superteam.
  • Limitless Stamina: Your stamina does not decrease during games, keeping your player fully energized from the opening tip through the final buzzer.

Ultimately, MyNBA Legacy is built around creating an all-time basketball legacy. Several Bonus Abilities are specifically designed to transfer skills and advantages to future generations, allowing your influence to continue even after your Legend retires.

Generational Legacies & 100-Year Franchise Runs

In 2K27, players can now play for up to 25 seasons before retirement, up from 24. The playable franchise window has also expanded from 80 years to 100 years across MyNBA, MyGM, and MyNBA Legacy.

MyNBA Legacy allows you to retire one Legend and continue the journey through their son. This means you can experience four 25-year careers or five 20-year careers within a 100-year run.

When a Legend’s career ends, you can pass the legacy to their child. Future generations inherit portions of their parent’s starting Badges, Training Camp bonuses, and special abilities through a stacking progression system. Winning championships can give descendants substantial permanent bonus points, providing them with a major advantage when they begin their own careers.

For elite Managers who achieve Eternal G.O.A.T. status, 2K27 offers up to 20 scaling difficulty modifiers:

  1. Ranked: Play using ranked settings.
  2. Tougher Goals: Season Excellence objectives become more difficult.
  3. Stifled Potential: Reduce your potential rating.
  4. Injury Risk: The Long Haul Bonus must be purchased instead of being free.
  5. Automatic Max: You are always required to sign a max contract.
  6. Early Peak: Attribute regression begins at a younger age.
  7. Inflation: Training Camp costs increase by 10%.
  8. Gym Fees: Limitless Stamina costs three times as much.
  9. Vocal Haters: Finals MVP voting is based unfairly on only your worst performance of the series.
  10. The Hard Road: During the offseason, you must join a team low in the power rankings that you have not previously won with.
  11. The Long Road: More XP is required to advance tiers, resulting in slower Badge progression but a higher ceiling.
  12. Voter Fatigue: Every MVP award you’ve previously won reduces your future MVP vote share.
  13. Coach’s Orders: The Head Coach determines your first Training Camp randomly.
  14. Limited Trades: You can make only 10 trades during a season.
  15. Too Many Opps: Playoff opponents begin elimination games with hot starts.
  16. The Hardest Road: During the offseason, you must join the lowest-ranked team in the power rankings that you haven’t won with.
  17. Father Time: You need an additional Training Camp every season to counter regression.
  18. Tough Critics: Winning MVP and Defensive Player of the Year becomes more difficult.
  19. Few Trades: You can make only five trades during a season.
  20. Above and Beyond: Career legacy goal requirements increase by 25% while XP rewards remain unchanged.

These modifiers introduce additional challenges, including strict trade limits, increasingly difficult award races, stronger regression requirements, and Finals MVP voting based on your worst performance. They are designed to push experienced players to the limit.

MyNBA Legacy also gives you complete creative freedom if you want a more relaxed sandbox. Attributes and Badges can be edited freely, allowing you to bypass traditional progression and create your superstar however you want. Players seeking a more competitive experience can instead enter Ranked Mode, where a standardized ruleset removes those freedoms and makes skill the deciding factor.
