Cap Breakers in NBA 2K27 allow you to increase your player’s attribute ratings beyond their initial cap. They are a crucial part of progressing your MyPLAYER build throughout the game’s lifecycle. Here’s a breakdown of how they work, how to earn them, and important restrictions to keep in mind.

How do Cap Breakers Work in NBA 2K27?

Cap Breakers in NBA 2K27enable builds to exceed their original attribute limits, or “attribute caps,” with those ratings able to contribute towards Animation, Badge, and Takeover attribute requirements as well. Any Cap Breakers earned through Build Specialization are limited in that they must be applied within the attribute category you specialized in or applied to Free Throw.

How to Unlock Cap Breakers

Cap Breakers can be earned in a variety of ways, including Rep Rewards, Build Specialization, Lifetime Challenges, Season Rewards, and Crew Rewards.

  • Cap Breaker will still raise your highest-rated and strongest attributes by +1 point, but if you choose to apply them to your lower-rated attributes you will see greater boosts.
  • For example, if you left your Free Throw attribute low, a Cap Breaker could raise your Free Throw rating by double-digit points at a time and provide a significant gain.

NBA 2K27 Cap Breaker Restrictions

Cap Breakers do have a few restrictions to ensure a balanced gameplay experience:

  • A Cap Breaker can be applied to each attribute a maximum of 5 times
  • You can use a Cap Breaker on an attribute up to its max potential rating allowed by your build’s height, weight, and wingspan
  • You must progress an attribute category to its max potential rating before applying a Cap Breaker
  • When a Cap Breaker is applied to an attribute, it is permanent for that save
