Are the 2017 Warriors the Best Team Ever? NBA 2K Simulates ’17 Warriors vs ’96 Bulls

After the 4-1 dismantling of the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2017 NBA Finals, it’s clear the Golden State Warriors have established themselves as one the all-time great NBA teams. How to settle the debate of the greatest team ever? Well, NBA 2K17 of course.

To be #1, the Warriors would have to get past the ’96 Bulls (72-10), who are arguably considered the top team of all-time, and have the G.O.A.T., Michael Jordan.  First, the lineups:

’96 Bulls

PG – Ron Harper
SG – Michael Jordan
SF – Scottie Pippen
PF – Dennis Rodman
C – Luc Longley

6th man – Tony Kukoc

’17 Warriors

PG – Steph Curry
SG – Klay Thompson
SF – Kevin Durant
PF – Draymond Green
C – Zaza Pachulia

6th man – Andre Iguodala

2K simulated multiple 7-game series between the 2017 Golden State Warriors and the 1996 Chicago Bulls.  Here are the results:

In the simulation, the Warriors win the series 60% of the time.  The Warriors couldn’t stop MJ, but the vast amount of fire power of the Warriors was too much for the Bulls.

Comparing eras is tough, with NBA rule changes, intangibles, and different play styles, but NBA 2K is a great tool to use, sans a time machine!  Who you got as the best team ever? Post your thoughts!
