The NBA 2K22 hype train has officially begun today, with the announcement of the NBA 2K22 Cover Athletes! Let’s get started.
NBA 2K22 Cover Athlete: Standard Edition
After several 2K22 rumors and leaks, which turned out to be correct, Mavericks 22-year-old superstar Luka Doncic is the NBA 2K22 Cover Athlete. The All-Star guard averaged 27.7 points, eight rebounds and 8.6 assists this season, finishing sixth in the NBA’s 2020-2021 Most Valuable Player award balloting.
“Making the global cover of NBA 2K22 is special for me,” said Dončić. “I’m proud to represent my country in a special cover that honors the colors of the Slovenian flag. Basketball has given me so much, and I’m excited to give back and work together with 2K Foundations this year to help the lives of young kids around the globe.”
Additionally, in Japan, players can also purchase a special version of the Standard Edition on NBA 2K22 that features Washington Wizards Rui Hachimura.
NBA 2K22 Cover Athlete: 75th NBA 75th Anniversary Edition
Future Hall of Famers, Kevin Durant and Dirk Nowitzki, along with HOFer and all-time NBA scoring leader Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, all share the cover of NBA 2K22’s NBA 75th Anniversary Edition. This will be KD’s third appearance on an NBA 2K cover (NBA 2K15, NBA 2K13), and is Dirk and Kareem’s first time.
NBA 2K22 Cover Athlete: WNBA 25th Anniversary Edition
Candace Parker makes history as the first woman to be on an NBA 2K cover. Parker will grace the NBA 2K22 WNBA 25th Anniversary Edition.
NBA 2K22 Release Date
The NBA 2K22 release date has been officially announced and set for September 10, 2021.
