City Improvements
- The City has a more accessible and competitive layout, designed to keep players on the court more often.
- Movement and camera panning now run at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Lighting has been improved with a fixed time of day, reducing harsh shadows and bright sunlight.
- The City features an open-air plaza with key locations such as the Gatorade Training Facility, Event Center, and Arena, all within close walking distance.
- Other buildings like The Theater, The Wreck, Proving Grounds, and Swags line the perimeter for easy access.
- A new “swap build” feature allows players to change between their MyPLAYER builds without leaving The City.
- The layout is designed so players can see nearly every area and move quickly between them.
Parks
- Parks return with bold new features and a more natural, realistic design.
- Players access the park through a giant rotating basketball, which serves as both a visual centerpiece and a gateway to new environments.
- A new park is introduced every six weeks at the start of each season, with original designs and remastered parks from NBA 2K16.
- Season 1’s park is called Skyline Park, set in a vibrant urban environment.
- Competitive elements include:
- Park MVPs: The top player in each park is highlighted with an icon. Defeating them grants five times the reputation and VC bonus, available every three hours.
- Streak Setters: Players who hold the longest winning streak on a court will have their names displayed directly on that court.
- Streak Breakers: Players earn VC for ending another team’s winning streak, with bigger rewards for breaking longer streaks.
- All park games provide a permanent 25% reputation bonus throughout the year.
Crews
- Affiliations have been removed and replaced by Crews, a new community-driven system.
- Players can create or join Crews, which may be as small as a private group of friends or grow to as many as 50 players.
- Crews progress through 30 levels by playing games and completing weekly goals.
- Rewards include:
- Custom branded clothing with uploaded crew logos
- Reputation and VC bonuses
- Unlimited boosts
- Badge perks (such as a permanent +1)
- Cap breakers for progression
- Crew identity is displayed on gamer plates, showing the crew logo and level.
- Crew leaderboards highlight the most successful groups.
Challenges
- Challenges are a new feature that help players explore The City while providing progression goals.
- Types of challenges include beginner, daily, seasonal, and lifetime.
- Rewards for completing challenges include VC, reputation bonuses, exclusive cosmetic items, and cap breakers.
Leaderboards
- Multiple types of leaderboards have been added across The City.
- Mode leaderboards: Track wins in areas such as Park, Theater, The Wreck, Proving Grounds, Starting Five, and Ante Up.
- Geographic leaderboards: Track victories by region, including all 50 U.S. states and international regions. Top players receive unique showoff flares during pregame introductions.
- Crew leaderboards: Highlight the most successful Crews.
- The leaderboards update daily, and the number one ranked player in each mode is honored with a 12-foot statue of their MyPLAYER outside the mode’s building.
Pro-Am Summit
- A new tournament-style event that emphasizes organized competitive play.
- Held twice per season, with both 3v3 and 5v5 formats.
- Summit weekends occur every three weeks, with matches played on Saturdays and Sundays.
- To qualify, teams must play ten Pro-Am games before the event.
- Teams are ranked based on the five best scores from their games during the Summit.
- Rewards are given to the top five, top ten, and top one hundred teams.
Street Kings
- A revamped version of streetball mode, now centralized in one location.
- Features three distinct courts, each with its own design.
- Players can compete solo or team up with two friends to face challenging CPU-controlled bosses.
- Provides 40 levels of unique rewards to help MyPLAYER progression.
- Offers a space to upgrade badges, test new animations, and sharpen gameplay skills.
My Court and Training
- Each player has a personal court to practice and refine their game.
- Available drills include free throws, alley-oops, putback dunks, and freestyle practice.
- The Learn 2K feature offers structured lessons to help improve skills.
- New customization options allow for unique design choices:
