2KW: Hey RDKGOTGAME, welcome to NBA 2K Community Spotlight! Can you tell us a little about yourself and your channel?
RDKGOTGAME: A part time creator who not only plays 2K but also plays basketball. I grew up watching Chris Smoove and always played MyCAREER exactly the way he did. All I wanted to do was make MyCAREERcontent just like him. When I started my channel it was probably a little too late because offline MyCAREER was no longer something viewers were interested in (unless you were Smoove). I made my channel anyway and saw some great interaction from my videos. I then started making tips/tricks, tutorials mainly for offline MyCAREER players since i knew the ins and outs of the game mode. From there i started trying to make other types of MyCAREER videos and not just my NBA games, which led me to my most viewed video surpassing 1.5 million views last year. I don’t post MyCAREER NBA games anymore because the interactions have gone down on those, and as a creator you want to see people enjoy your videos.
2KW: What’s your favorite game mode and things about NBA 2K24?
RDKGOTGAME: Favorite game mode is MyCAREER, I mainly play the offline experience. My favorite thing they did for 2K24 was making the MyCAREER about basketball again and not having to do random side quests before I could play an NBA game.
2KW: What’s your favorite NBA 2K version?
RDKGOTGAME: I will say NBA 2K14 when it came out on Xbox One. the graphics were insanely beautiful and the MyCAREER mode was the best yet. There is a reason people still play 2K14 to this day and that’s because the fluidness was just perfect for a basketball game.
2KW: What’s your favorite NBA team and who’s your favorite NBA player?
My favorite NBA team is the Cleveland Cavaliers for about 18 years now. My favorite player is Darius Garland.
2KW: You’ve mentioned to us before that you’ve got some IRL basketball skills. How has hooping in real life helped you on the virtual court?
RDKGOTGAME: Knowing how to attack a zone defense. I had to teach my friends how to attack a 2-3 zone while we were playing Rec.
2KW: What do you want to see in future versions of NBA 2K?
RDKGOTGAME: For future versions of 2K, what I want to see is the simple shooting mechanics. The whole different release points for stamina or closeouts is something I’ve never liked. I just want it to go back to timing your jumpshot with one release point.
