The MyNBA Eras setup options in NBA 2K23 allows users to customize their preferences for their MyNBA Eras experience before starting their franchise. Here are all the setup options available with their descriptions that you can toggle on or off when first setting up a franchise in NBA 2K23. (Note: ‘Start From’, ‘Play-In Tournament’ and ‘Ranked’ options are only available under the ‘Modern Era’ franchise option.)

Enabling this option will allow you to customize a set of simple settings options during the setup flow.

Enabling this option will allow you to fully-customize a robust set of sliders and options during the setup flow.
Advanced CBA Rules
Dead Cap
Enabling this option will turn on the Dead Cap rule that has released players count against your cap if they’re not picked up off waivers.
Stepien Rule
Enabling this option will turn on the rule that limits you from trading away first-round picks in consecutive years.
30 / 60 / 90 Day
Enabling this option will turn on the rule that won’t let you trade recently-signed players for either 30 or 60 days after they are signed.
Restricted Free Agents
Enabling this option will turn on the rule that, during free agency, if an RFA receives an offer from a team, the RFA’s original team retains the right of first refusal to match the offer.
Trade Finances
Enabling this option will turn on the rules that make it more difficult to complete trdes because you’ll need to match salaries and other prerequisite conditions.
Waiver Rules
Enabling this option will require released players go through a 48-hour period where the team with the lowest win percentage has first priority to sign the player.
Role-Playing Elements
Scoring
Enabling this option will turn on the feature where you are given points based on your ability as GM.
Skills
Enabling this option will turn on the feature where you can upgrade your GM with new special abilities and skills.
Tasks
Enabling this option will turn on the feature where you are given tasks that you need to try and complete by players and staff.
Morale and Chemistry
Enabling this option will turn on the feature that makes the performance of players impacted by their morale and the team’s chemistry.
Draft Storylines (Generated)
Enabling this option will create randomized storylines for the generated prospects included in all draft classes.
Draft Storylines (Historic)
Enabling this option will create randomized storylines for the real prospects included in historic draft classes.
Budget and Finances
Price Changes
Enabling this option will turn on the feature that allows you to set prices for things like tickets and concessions
User-Controlled Budgets
Enabling this option will turn on the feature that allows you to set the team’s budget for each season.
Salary Cap
Enabling this option will turn on the feature that limits teams to the players that they can sign based on the league’s salary cap.
Hard Cap
Enabling this option will turn on the feature that will limit the signing of players if a team reaches the value of the hard cap.
Online
Online League
Enabling this option will allow you to create an online league and invite your friends to play with you.
Automate Offseason Time Periods
Retirements
Enabling this option will have the game ski8p the retirement-related time periods during the offseason.
League Business
Enabling this option will have the game skip the time periods related to the league’s business situations, such as the League Meetings and the selection of the next season’s All-Star game location.
Staff Signing
Enabling this option will have the game skip the staff signing period of the offseason and handle the signing of open positions for you.
Drafting
Enabling this option will have the game skip the offseason time periods related to scouting and drafting new players and will handle all of it for you.
Free Agency
Enabling this option will have the game skip all of the offseason time periods related to free agency and signing your own players and handle the tasks for you.
Player Progression
Enabling this option will have the game skip all offseason time periods related to your players improving and declining and handle the tasks for you.
Start From
Regular Season
Enabling this option will start your league at the beginning of the 2022-23 season.
Offseason
Enabling this option will start your league at the beginning of the offseason at the conclusion of the 2021-22 season.
Today
Enabling this option will start your league from today’s date, based on the real-world progress of the NBA season.
Play-In Tournament
Play-In Tournament
Enabling this option will set the playoffs to include 10 teams from each conference and additional play-in games.
Ranked
Ranked
Enabling this option will create a ranked league that allows you to compare your performance to other players around the world.
Custom Ranked Settings
Enabling this option will allow you to customize your Ranked league’s settings.
